White Marks on our Nails, What they
are telling about our Body?
Here you will read about the about white marks on your
nails. It’s a phenomenon called Leukonychia or leuconychia .Leukonychia is a greek word
Leuko means white and nychia means nails. There are four types of Leukonychia.
Some form for different, and sometimes dangerous, reasons.
Leukonychia Punctata:
This
is the most common type .it often happens when you injure the nail’s base. The
spot should disappear in about 8 months.
Leukonychia Striata :
It happens when you
traumatize the nail matrix. Excessive tapping of the nail or too many manicures
can do this; these marks may also arise from infections like measles, malaria,
herpes, and leprosy.
Longitudanal Leukonychia :
This is a rare condition; it can show up in people with the
skin condition Darier’s disease.
Leukonychia Totalis:
Certain
antibiotics and genetic conditions can cause this it can also be a sign of
Kidney failure, Liver failure, and Protein disorder. If you think you have an
infection or disease, consult a physician.
